Section 8 ISA

about the partisans

In addition to being a dedicated group of supporters of the Chicago Fire, the Partisans supporters group seeks to bring together like-minded people to take part in both community activism and social activities, creating strong bonds of friendship that exist beyond the stands and tailgating lots of Toyota Park.

Although all members are leftists, we do not officially support any particular political party and feel it is important for there to be differences of opinion. That being said, we do insist that every member of our group take an unwavering stand against racism, sexism and homophobia, both at soccer matches and in everyday life, and that members do not allow nuanced differences of political opinion to become a source of infighting.

our name and crest

Our name comes not only from the several resistance movements of the same name which have existed throughout history (and the rockin' punk band), but also the very definition of a partisan which is 1) a fervent supporter of a cause, person, faction, or idea 2) an organized group of fighters who attack, or harass an enemy and 3) a weapon having a blade with lateral projections mounted on the end of a long shaft.

We have therefore taken the partisan [weapon] to be part of our crest. On our particular partisan, the left blade is much larger than the right to symbolize our political leanings. It is in the shape of one of the wings of the cross that makes up the club's crest. Our shield also includes symbols representing the Chicago Fire [the stylized "C"], Section 8 [the raised fist], and the city of Chicago itself [a single star from the city flag].
