Our name comes not only from the several resistance movements of the same name which have existed throughout history (and the rockin' punk band), but also the very definition of a partisan which is 1) a fervent supporter of a cause, person, faction, or idea 2) an organized group of fighters who attack, or harass an enemy and 3) a weapon having a blade with lateral projections mounted on the end of a long shaft.
We have therefore taken the partisan [weapon] to be part of our crest. On our particular partisan, the left blade is much larger than the right to symbolize our political leanings. It is in the shape of one of the wings of the cross that makes up the club's crest. Our shield also includes symbols representing the Chicago Fire [the stylized "C"], Section 8 [the raised fist], and the city of Chicago itself [a single star from the city flag]. |
